Abstract
Quantum systems described by linear, higher order spatial derivatives of the field exhibit a new kind of phase transition as the coupling strength of the higher order terms varies. This essentially happens because a fundamental change in the ratio of ground state energy eigenvalues, between linear and non-linear regime, takes place which leads to excitation of higher modes. The new phase has inverse relation with area.
