Abstract

Abstract Linear birefringence measurements were performed for RbHSeO4 crystal in the temperature range 290–430 K. Two anomalies were observed a jump at 370 K., caused by the first order ferroelectric transition, and a slight continous rise at about 396 K, indicating the possible transition to an incommensurate or antiferroelectric phase. Modified HAUP method was applied to study the gyration and the linear birefringence dispersion. The gyration magnitude was estimated for three main cuts of the crystal and rather high values were found.
