Abstract

This paper’s aim was to analyze the studies published on scientific literature about the strategies applied by brazilian health services to assure access for the LGBTQIA+ population. This study is an integrative review of literature conducted on the data bases BVS, SciELO and Pubmed. With the selected Medical Subject Headings, along with the applied boolean operators, a search strategy was elaborated to obtain articles within the inclusion criteria: articles in Portuguese, English ou Spanish, published between 2013 and 2023, with a population pertaining to the LGBTQIA+ group. The ones that only elaborated on HIV, other groups or did not meet the study’s aim were excluded. 43 articles were retrieved, and the final collection comprises 23 articles. The selected ones identify as barriers the lack of preparation from health providers, long waiting lists and discrimination. Few articles elaborate strategies to work around the difficulties. 87% (20) indicated the region in Brazil, 57% (13) being from the South-Southeast, highlighting a deficiency of scientific production in other regions.
