Abstract

The objective of this study was to measure and survey the floristic of the trees on one hectare of the Savannah area “cerrado sensu stricto” located in the administrative region of Planaltina, Federal District, Brazil. A sample of ten rectangular plots of 10 x 100 m each was assessed totaling one hectare. All trees over 5 cm diameter at brest height were included in the floristic survey. A total of 490 trees classified in 51 arboreal species (28 botanical families) were measured. The diameter distribution showed through the Meyer’s equation a tendency of an inversed “J” curve, totalizing 80 % of the trees until the 13 cm class. The Liocourt quotient “q” showed an unbalanced diameter distribution.
