Abstract

I cannot help commenting on Dr. Spock's article "Should Not Physicians' Families Be Allowed the Comfort of Paying for Medical Care?" (Pediatrics, 30:109, 1962). Dr. Spock gives the best argument against his own case in the introductory two paragraphs of his communication. The tradition is honorable and does demonstrate some of the noble attributes of man—generosity, loyalty, pride in service, and devotion to an ideal, not to mention devotion to our history and principles. to render medical service to his family.
