Abstract
I regret that my comments on dietary management of sucrose intolerance may have lacked sufficient detail. Apart from sucrose itself all cakes, candy, soft drinks, chocolate, ice-cream, fruit preserves, jellies, syrups, and sweetened condensed milks are likely to contain large amounts of sucrose and should be avoided or restricted. Enquiries should be made of the manufacturer where doubt exists about the sucrose content of commercial products. Common fruits and vegetables which contain significant amounts of sucrose include sugar beets, sweet potatoes, bananas, dates, and pineapples.
