Abstract

THE WORDS OF POWER. FIFTY YEARS OF INAUGURAL SPEECHES IN QUEBEC (1944-1996) The ispeech of the throneî in Quebec is used to detail the programme of each government. Forty-nine texts provide the material for lexicometric analyses. The circumstances and the emergence of new stakes partly explain the evolution in vocabulary. The study of the period highlights the ilexical seismic shifti that was produced by the Quebecker party coming to power, and the impact of a partisan ideology on the grouping of electoral lists of jobs.
