Abstract
Previous records of Lepidoptera from Ascension Island are reviewed and to these are added the results of recent collecting. Thirty-seven species are now reliably recorded. The Lepidoptera fauna is predominantly of pantropical and pest species; with the possible exception of two species of Tineidae from poorly known groups, there is no endemism. Practically the whole of the fauna is derived from the Old World tropics, either through introduction with crop plants or stored food products, or by immigration.
