Abstract
Since I am a computer scientist who practices as a lawyer, clients often ask me technical as well as legal questions. One question that I am frequently asked is whether there is truth in the rumours that the world will come to an end because of the millennium bug. Sometimes, and less dramatically the question is merely: do I believe that lots of computer systems are or will be affected by the millenium bug. Now that the year has changed to the year ‘99’, the computer glitches which have occurred put us in a better place to answer those questions.
