Abstract

Identifying learner objectives is critical to the design and development of a comprehensive nutrition education curriculum. These objectives have implications for developing needs assessment instruments, curriculum foci, and baseline data for evaluation of curriculum effects. This paper describes how learner objectives were identified through the development and use of an objective prioritization instrument responded to by a stratified, random sample of the Society for Nutrition Education (SNE) membership. Nutritionists identified and prioritized eight factors of learner objectives. These factors are being used to develop a comprehensive preschool-12/adult nutrition education curriculum.
