Abstract

The use of anabolic hormones in animal production raises great problems in european countries. The E.E.C. directive 81/602 of July 31, 1981 has forbidden stilbenes and put under considerations the anabolic compounds : estradiol 170, progesterone, testosterone, trenbolone and zeranol. The recall of chemical structures and effective regulations is followed by a survey of metabolism and analytical methods. For anabolic hormones control, the actually tendancy refers to physical and chemicals methods (H.P.T.L.C.) and biochemical methods (R.I.A.). The toxicological and qualitative aspects are seen with aid of the most recent scientific bases.
