Abstract

The double election ― legislative and regional ― highlights a split voting behavior, a form of electoral volatility termed here « electoral nomadism ». An exit poll carried out in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region makes it possible to identify the places where volatility is strongest and to describe the strength and the political itineraries of these nomads. All political groups are, in varying degrees, touched by this phenomenon, and electoral supply, often competitive, is not alien to that. But the explanation is not only contextual. Electoral nomadism is recorded in time as a real practice and represents a structural factor of voting, having its own logic.
