•11% of women might be affected.•Numerous recommendations established in other countries.•Introducing as soon as possible the conservative treatment : balanced diet, physical activity, compression, manual lymphatic drainage and/or pressotherapy if effective.•If conservative treatment is not effective and symptoms are interfering with a personal and/or professional life : indication to proceed to surgical intervention following gold-standard rules (tumescent liposuction).•Medical care involving different healthcare professionals depending on the needs of the patient : dietician, physiotherapist, psychologist.
