Abstract
This article aims to bring over the value to a new perspective for the study of the history of education: school culture in three areas (law, theory, empiricism). An approach to the Spanish School of the 20th century by studying a primary practice for teaching: le cahier de roulement. The essay presented is the result of a content analysis carried out in notebooks which have been used in three historical moments: Second Republic, Francoism and, actually, the projection to America. The knowledge extracted is a cultural heritage that can and must enrich our learning and the formation of the new generations of teachers.

Summary
La consideración del cuaderno como fuente documental de primer orden genera resistencias, quizá por ser todavía reciente su aparición y por la amplia y diversa tipología existente, de tal forma que falta un consenso unánime entre los historiadores de la educación. Por su parte Chartier (2005) sugiere no proyectar las impresiones personales escolares al revisar los cuadernos y sí tomar en consideración los niveles y referencias de la época en que fueron escritos. Se escogieron cuadernos de diferentes escuelas, maestros y cursos del fondo que posee el Museo Pedagógico de la Universidad de Salamanca que representan cada una de las etapas históricas a lo largo del siglo XX. El análisis se ha centrado en tres cuestiones principales: a) la selección de los contenidos y estructuración interna del cuaderno; b) los recursos didácticos para la enseñanza que se plasman en ellos; c) la distribución de escrituras personales y subjetivas frente a las marcadas y obligadas. También los contenidos seleccionados para ser reproducidos en el cuaderno, que varían según la política educativa de las diferentes etapas históricas. Tres momentos históricos que cuentan la estima de este cuaderno por parte de los maestros que encontraron en él un recurso inestimable en su práctica docente
