Abstract

This letter presents a novel reduced-rank beamforming algorithm based on the linearly constrained minimum-variance (LCMV) criterion. Such an algorithm is derived aiming to overcome the main drawback of another reduced-rank beamforming algorithm from the literature, whose performance limitation is in practical scenarios where the angle of arrival of the signal of interest (SOI) changes over time. To meet this aim, the proposed algorithm seeks to maintain a unity gain in the direction of the SOI, leading to enhanced tracking capability and superior performance. Simulation results are shown confirming the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
