Abstract
Mariner is aware that, by proceeding in this way, he does not only bring prestige to March but he canonizes and internationalizes the poet. To do this, he maintains the biographical patterns that had been well established in the Italian Renaissance and some of the paradigms already applied to March in the prolegomena of the 16th century. However, it is relevant that he inserts the role of the poet and the meaning of his work in a global approach that can already be linked to the new Baroque paradigm, with the concepts of ingenium, wit and wonder as central elements that explain March’s creativity and literary quality, as if it were a contemporary poet. Keywords: Ausiàs March, Canonization, Ingenium, Wonder, Baroque
