Abstract

The report deals with the effect of the lateral interactions between adsorbed species on the steady state multiplicity area and on the possible rate self-oscillations for a reaction proceeding via the Langmuir-Hinshelwood mechanism. The adsorption layer is modeled as a lattice gas on a square lattice. For irreversible adsorption, the maximum possible number of interior steady states is at least ten. Reaction rate self-oscillations resulting from Andronov-Hopf bifurcation take place for some lateral interaction energy sets. These self-oscillations are associated with a checkerboard-type ordered dense phase existing owing to the attraction between different adsorbed species.
