Abstract

Transport properties of YBa2Cu3O7−x (YBCO) step-edge weak links were measured in the absence and presence of the magnetic fieldB, both before and after the cw-laser annealing. Depending on the laser power density, either an increase (up to 75%) or decrease (up to 100%) of the junction critical currentIc was observed. TheIc(B) characteristics of the laser-treated junctions exhibited about 10% variations of theIc(B) periodicity, indicating permanent changes in the junction barrier and/or adjacent YBCO electrodes.
