Abstract
A 55-year-old lady female presents to the clinic complaining of hoarseness of voice, difficulty swallowing and breathlessness on exertion. This was associated with dryness and crusting in her nose. She underwent flexible nasoendoscopy, which was suggestive of supraglottic oedema with nodules over the back of the epiglottis. She subsequently underwent microlaryngoscopy and biopsy of the lesions. The histopathology confirmed the diagnosis of laryngeal sarcoidosis. She was treated with laser debulking, serial intralesional steroid injections, balloon dilatation to aid with her symptoms. Sarcoidosis is a multisystemic inflammatory disease with extrathoracic manifestations, most commonly affecting the young and middle-aged, female, and black populations. Diagnosis usually requires evidence of non-caseating granulomata and, when treated, prognosis is usually favourable.
