Abstract
An acquisition of three-dimensional (3D) Vertical Seismic Profile (VSP) was determined to be beneficial in this area. The largest ever, at that time, 3D VSP survey in the deep water of the Gulf of Mexico was designed and successfully completed in the Thunder Horse development project. The 3D VSP image around the well was found to be much superior compared to available surface seismic data. Additional 3D VSP surveys were subsequently completed.
