Abstract

The large amplitude flexural vibration of rectangular plates in investigated. A finite element based on a Reissner-Mindlin type of shear deformable theory governing laminated anisotropic composite plates, and the non-linear (large rotations) strain-displacement relations of the von Karman theory are employed. Numerical results are presented for rectangular plates with rectangular cutouts. The parametric effects of side to thickness ratio (shear deformation), aspect ratio, plate side to cutout side ratio, anisotropy, and lamination on linear and non-linear frequencies are investigated.
