Abstract

Ovarian remnant syndrome (ORS) is a condition in which a portion of ovarian tissue is inadvertently left behind at the time of salpingoophorectomy, causing pelvic pain or a pelvic mass. Predisposing factors include previous surgeries causing adhesions and inflammatory conditions such as endometriosis. The gold standard for treatment is surgical excision with pathological confirmation of ovarian tissue.
