Abstract

In January, synthetic seismic data acquisition began on the Foothills model — the largest, and last, digital earth model built by the SEAM Phase II consortium on Land Seismic Challenges. The seismic simulations should finish near the end of March and, along with a collection of synthetic gravity and electromagnetic data on all three Phase II models, will complete the project work in Phase II. This SEAM update describes the final version of the Foothills model being used for the production runs and shows examples of synthetic shot profiles illustrating the effects of sharp topography on 3D seismic data.
