Abstract
From the representations of Attic vase painting of the sixth and fifth centuries and the comparison of this imagery with literary sources, I study the relations between the maenad and wine. Usually the Greek woman has no contact with wine. But in the cult of Dionysos is she allowed to participate in the ritual wine-drinking ?
