Abstract

This study aims to analyse the low attendance of science courses by girls in the Academy of Tambacounda. To do this, our methodological approach is mixed because it is based on both interviews, class observations and a questionnaire survey. The analysis of the data collected shows that the low attendance of science courses by Tambacoundoises can be explained by four main factors : psychological (stereotypes about maths), situational (scarcity of female science teachers), but also and above all social (lack of time and resources). That said, in the world as in Senegal, the arrival of waves of researchers in the experimental sciences, as well as all these laws on parity gender equity, are helping to reverse the trend.
