Abstract
The Bicentennial Celebration of the Peninsular War -the so-called 'War of Independence' in Spain, has increased extraordinarily the number of studies published by historians in recent years. Recent contributions have stressed the importance of certain issues which have not been thoroughly studied so far, such as logistics, propaganda, finance, the cultural aspects related to the conflict, the role of the guerrilla and the consequences of war. All of these aspects contribute significantly to a better knowledege of the event which led to modern Spain. In this task, which will be analysed in the following pages, the contribution of the Asociacion para el Estudio de la Guerra de la Independencia -the Spanish Society for the Study of the Peninsular War (AEGI) is especially emphasized.
