Abstract

The Spanish Military Geography during the period 1819-1945 is presented as an Applied Geography; wich needs an overall knowledge of Geography in order to apply it to the war requirements. The method for the analysis of the Spanish mainland develops from a study around its bowls and hydrographic slopes into a strategic study, going over military areas. Its output and scientific level is very high in a time when the academic Geograpphy was not estabished. Its approach to the same geographic area is different from the Geography for Teachers, given that the goal of the former is the geographic knowledge of the land in order to defend or control it.
