Abstract

This paper aims to determine the demographic and sociodemographic factors that influence the happiness of undergraduate students considering that their conception of welfare differs to other groups of the population. This research contributes in the analysis of the dimensions that may influence the level of happiness, which correspond to previous research findings in the topic. An ordered Probit regression was estimated following the methodology of Lordemann, Jimenez, Mita, Lazaro, & Carvajal (2015). The results indicate that sex does not have influence in the level of happiness, that the youngest students are the most satisfied, as well those that have a partner or are currently married. At the same time, religion has positive effects on happiness. On the other hand, income was not significant as a determinant of happiness for undergraduate students.
