However, several studies have demonstrated differences between the effects of l-thyroxine and liothyronine, and liothyronine has been used in some heart and muscular conditions. Deiodination abnormalities could be induced by casual events, such as selenium deficiency, or by chronic disease.Bunevicius and colleagues (1) demonstrated that hypothyroid patients feel better when they receive combination therapy with l-thyroxine and liothyronine.
