Abstract

The spectacle monuments represent an essential element of the Roman influence in Gaul. If the roman theatre of Antipolis was recognized by H. Bazin's excavations, the same cannot be said of a possible amphitheater, of which the existence still raises many questions. The aim of this study is to present the current state of knowledge (texts and illustrations, published or not, and archaeological excavation results) and provide an initial response to these questions. In conclusion, we can say that an oval building existed in Antibes. lined up with the theater, but its function is still unknown.
