Abstract

By trying to en sure continuity by applying a long term policy while integrating renewed social needs, forest management transposes on forestry space some choices fixed at a certain moments. Our paper contrasts the time of relative certainties defined primarily by tree conversions to a high forest system and the expansion of coniferous tree plantations with the time of the present forest realities characterized by a new definition of the balance between wood production, increasing opening of forests to services, and sustainable development.
