Abstract

Kounis syndrome is defined by the occurrence of an acute coronary syndrome with conditions associated with mast cell activation, involving interrelated and interacting inflammatory cells, and including allergic or hypersensitivity and anaphylactic or anaphylactoid attacks. There are 3 types of Kounis syndrome involving; patient with normal or nearly normal coronary arteries, patients with culprit but quiescent preexisting atheromatous disease, and hypersensitivity reactions following implantations of drug-eluting stents and stent thrombosis.
