Abstract
Basic levers for increasing competitiveness and for increasing economic and technological capacities of the economy of Serbia are: (a) managing and innovative behavior of enterprises, (b) government active technological and industrial policy and (c) competency of public administration at the level of the Republic, regional and local levels, partnership of public and private sector and cooperative relations among state, managers and trade unions. A particular role and importance for competitive progressing and for strengthening international strategic position of Serbia belongs to technological dimension of competitiveness of enterprises, branches of the economy and sectors of the economy. Capacity building to use technology as the key lever of economic and overall development of all and each player in the development process is of the utmost importance for acquiring and maintaining in the long run competitive position of Serbia in the region and broader in Europe.
