Abstract

Mugla has been known in the world throughout history and is still known today in the field of pine honey production and trade. Beekeeping is the most important sector after tourism in the city and its districts. The aim of this study, beekeeping is discussed as a cultural and touristic value. In this context, how to benefit from beekeeping for apitourism and how to improve is one of the gastronomy museums in Turkey the Private Mugla Beekeeping Museum were discussed. In the present study, the subject was examined in depth in the light of the data obtained by using secondary and primary sources. In the research, interview and observation method, which is the technique of obtaining qualitative data, were used. In this respect, three museums and one bee farm were visited and inspections were made. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews held with the museum directors, municipality officers and beekeepers. The data obtained was transferred onto electronic environment and analyses were conducted. As a result of study, since beekeeping holds an important place in tourism industry, recommendations were made concerning beekeeping and apitourism in Mugla as well as what to keep and do in the beekeeping museum.
