Abstract

A kinetic study of the reactions of anilines with the dimeric cationic complex of palladium(II) [Pd( o -CH 2C 6H 4CN)(PPh 3) 2] 2(BF 4) 2 emphasized the production of amidino mononuclear complexes through the breaking of the PdCN bonds, and the formation of an intermediate with the activate nitrile group where the amine reacts through an analogous two-step mechanism for both primary and secondary anilines.
