Abstract
The kinetics of heat release in thermal decomposition of a mixture of ammonium nitrate and pyroxylin was studied. To elucidate the mechanism of this process, the kinetics of heat release in oxidation of ammonium nitrate with nitrogen dioxide and of cellulose with a nitric acid solution was examined. The kinetic equations of the processes and the temperature dependence of the constants in these equations were established. The influence exerted by addition of diphenylamine on the rate of heat release in the system constituted by ammonium nitrate and pyroxylin was analyzed.
