Abstract

Using the relative rate method, the rate coefficients for gas phase reactions of Cl atoms with two unsaturated alcohols, 3-buten-1-ol ( k 1) and 2-buten-1-ol ( k 2), were determined in 760 Torr of purified air over the temperature range of 298–363 K. At 298 K, the measured rate coefficients (in units of cm 3 molecule −1 s −1) were found to be: k 1 = (2.63 ± 0.25) × 10 −10 and k 2 = (3.90 ± 0.35) × 10 −10. The values obtained are discussed and compared with the previous determinations.
