Abstract

Benzyl alcohol oxidation is catalyzed by solid MnFe1.8Cu0.15Ru0.05O4 in the presence of molecular oxygen. The good compliance of oxidation kinetics with the Michaelis-Menten enzyme kinetic model evidences the oxidative dehydrogenation of benzyl alcohol via a Ru-alkoxide intermediate, which undergoes b-elimination to afford benzaldehyde.
