Abstract
The Journal of the National Science Foundation of Sri Lanka publishes the results of research in all aspects of Science and Technology. Genus Culex Ennaeus (Diptera: Culicidae) is re~resentedby 37 valid species classified under 5 subgenera in Sri Lanka.l It is second only to genus Aedes in terms: of the number of species present in the island. Species of which are represented in Sri Lanka. These taxonomic works are not available to local workers; they deal with a much larger fauna than is present in the island. T+e present paper, provides keys for the identific~tionopthe adult stage (male and female) of all known species of genus. Culex in Sri La-ka, as a guide t3 workers who need to identify species or this genus during the course of research or disease surveillance
