Abstract

Reliability and power quality are more important today than they have ever been for electricity and electric appliances providers, and electricity consumers. At the same time, the electric power industry around the world copes with reorganization, cost cutting, competition, and changes in regulatory structure. This also takes place in Poland. This paper presents the key problems of reliability and power quality assessment and improvement facing the Polish electric power system in the new era. Experiences with generation reliability evaluation using own GRA (Generating Reliability Assessment) computer program and with transmission system reliability assessment using EPRI TRELSS computer program are also described.
