Abstract

Based on terahertz generation and optoelectronic effect, Kerr-like nonlinearity in a thin periodically poled lithium niobate crystal is induced by heterodyne optical Kerr effect setup of femtosecond pulse. The noninstantaneous response charater is reported. Its competition with a third-order optical Kerr effect is demonstrated.
