Abstract

Andrew Lenard, born and raised in Hungary, obtained his higher education at the (then) State University of lowa, with a Ph.D. in theoretical physics (1953). His varied career has included doing applied mathematics; research in statistical and quantum mechanics and geometry; as well as teaching special topics in mathematical physics, undergraduate mathematics, and mathematics history, among others. He is a (recently re? tired) Professor of Mathematics and Physics at Indiana Univer? sity. Two of his many avocations are classical music and the outdoors; but above all he is a voracious reader?no fiction, please!
