Abstract

Haemophilus influenzae type b is the most common cause of bacterial meningitis in children 5 years of age and under. The systemic diseases caused by Haemophilus influenzae type b are becoming more ampicillin resistant and difficult to treat. Primary care necessitates the use of the new vaccine approved by the Food and Drug Administration to help prevent Haemophilus influenzae type b diseases.
