Abstract
SUMMARYFrom analysis of mitotic metaphase spreads the diploid number 2n = 36 (FN = 38) has been determined for Carapus acus from the Gulf of Palermo. It seems that, for this species, evolution is accompanied by a decrease in the chromosome number and DNA content.
