Junior doctors have been left angry and frustrated by proposals for a new contract, the BMA has said. Kitty Mohan, co-chair of the BMA’s Junior Doctors Committee, told BMJ Careers that the proposals, which include an extension of standard working hours and “flexible pay premiums,” had made junior doctors very upset. “They feel devalued, they feel frustrated, and they feel like they’re not being listened to,” she said. “I’ve been involved with the BMA since 2003, and we are seeing levels of frustration, disappointment, and anger that I can’t really remember ever seeing [before],” Mohan added.
