Abstract

The dc and ac Josephson effects in MgB 2 break junctions (BJs) and MgB 2/Nb point contacts have been studied systematically. For MgB 2 BJs, temperature, as well as field, the dependence of the Josephson critical currents has also been investigated. The RSJ model and Ambegaokar–Baratoff equation were successively used to fit the data obtained from these two types of junctions. Our results implicate that the MgB 2 is more likely an s-wave BCS superconductor, and has its potential application in the superconducting electronics.
