Abstract
Abstract Nine organo-phosphorus insecticides, diazinon, “Luci-jet,” Bayer S1752. “Asuntol,” “Nankor” “Delnav,” “VC-13.” carbophenothion, and Cela S1942, and one chlorinated hydrocarbon, dieldrin*, were applied by jetting sheep along the back. Protection from fly-strike, as determined by larval implantation, was found to be comparable to that afforded by plunge dipping, as was persistence of insecticides as determined by bio-assay of wool samples using first instar blowfly larvae. Increased application rates did not give correspondingly increased protection periods.
