Abstract

The paper presents an isotopic method for the determination of oxide inclusions in steel, formed during the process of steel deoxidation with aluminium and silicon. In view of the lack of adequate radioactive isotopes of both mentioned elements, the developed method consists in the use of substitute isotopic tracers. The selection of these tracers has been based on theoretical considerations and experimental verification. Results of investigations for 15 laboratory steel melts together with their statistical interpretation have been presented.
