Abstract
From seedlings of dwarf pea (Pisum sativum L., var. Progress No. 9) grown under red light, three neutral growth inhibitors were isolated which interfered with the responses of these plants to GA3. The compounds were identified as β-sitosterol, α-stearoyl glycerol and pisatin, of which the glyceride produced remarkable inhibition when applied to terminal buds. Though its anti-gibberellin activity was not very strong, pisatin produced inhibition of the straight-growth of Avena coleoptile segments caused by IAA.
