Abstract

We discuss an effective Lagrangian model in which theU (1) chiral symmetry is restored above theSU (L) ⊗SU (L) chiral phase transition (L being the number of light flavours) and the topological susceptibilityXYM of the pure Yang-Mills theory drops to zero above the chiral transition. A new order parameter is introduced for theU(1) chiral symmetry and a new “exotic” particle becomes relevant at high temperatures.
